semester topic „Me, My Selfie & Identity or How to Disappear?“

Starting from Zygmunt Bauman’s reflections on fluid identity, I investigated the concept of “self” in a society divided between real and virtual. The tendency to virtualize one’s identity leads to a disembodiment through which individuals become organic-inorganic hybrids. Therefore, the real bodies lose their value by changing into objects/statues on which this new fluid identity is projected, while the inanimate objects of the virtual world come alive, breaking the barrier between real and artificial.
